The area was first settled in 1878 by Isaac Hudson, who established a post office in his home, leading to the community’s development. Historically a small fishing village, Hudson has evolved into a community known for its network of canals, providing residents with direct access to the Gulf for boating and fishing activities. The unincorporated community of Hudson Beach, located within Hudson, offers waterfront dining and recreational opportunities, contributing to the area’s coastal charm. ​
